Name: Dante Williams
Secret Identity (if any): Force
Age: 22
Base of Operations (if any):
None yet
Appearance:
Dante stands at a fairly average height, being roughly 5'10. His build is athletic, as he's kept up with physical fitness throughout his teenage years into young adulthood, but he's not rigorously routine focused in this area, so he's nowhere near body builder level. His face can appear sharp and focused at times, but just as often it can be blank and detached. His short hair is auburn, the red tints stronger than the brown, and his eyes are golden brown.
Lacking any sort of costume for his soon to be created secret identity, Dante is usually seen in “civilian” clothing. He prefers more casual clothing but likes having a “clean” look as well. He will dress up if the occasion calls for it, and enjoys the opportunity to do so, but if he were to dress up too often it would lose it's appeal swiftly. Dante is most often seen donning black jackets or hoodies and blue jeans, and during the colder months/seasons he has a red scarf he adorns as well.
Any use of his powers may cause a faint red glow to surround him, and it will be visible to a sharp or trained eye. The glow itself is his telekinetic field waking up.
Powers: Dante's powers are a genetic mutation, giving him psionic abilities. Currently the main focus of his psionic powers allows him to manipulate and utilize a telekinetic field that surrounds his body. As he has used the ability sparingly throughout his life it is still in a rather simple and basic stage, but is by no means weak.
Currently Dante can utilize this field to simulate super strength. By constricting the field tightly around his body or rapidly expanding it outward, it's point of focus being one of his body parts, Dante can make it appear as though his body possesses super durability or the ability to exert intense amounts of physical force. In reality it is his telekinetic field acting as a barrier or launching a telekinetic blast. Using this TK field for support he can lift objects far too heavy for an average human, but he currently struggles to do so with just his mind.
While a focused blast from his telekinetic field might feel like an incredibly strong punch, or even a train colliding with you, the rapid expansion of his entire field would feel like running into a brick wall.
Dante can currently expand this field in a 330 degree angle, with a blind spot directly behind him. The maximum range of this field's expansion is currently 10 metres, allowing him to shield those within that space from attacks. However the farther stretched his field is the less durable a shield it becomes, and in any form his barrier can be briefly broken through intense and repeated force, or by attacking his blind spot.
Dante's field can affect objects within it as well, meaning he can extend his power to tools and weaponry. Dante can throw a knife with similar force to a cannon launching a cannonball.
Unfortunately proper use of this field, currently, requires Dante's full conscious concentration. If he is incredibly surprised, caught off guard, or unfocused for any reason his powers shut down until he can focus them once again. And with his TK field down, he's just an ordinary human.
Personality: Dante is a fairly quiet and reserved individual in most situations. He's personable enough that he doesn't usually come off as cold or rude, but he's certainly not out-going. Dante can be a fairly private individual, keeping many thoughts, emotions, and opinions to himself because he'd rather not “make waves” so to speak. Even if these beliefs are strong he likes to think he knows the time and place to share them, or at least who the right people to hear him out are. Dante explores his own thoughts quite a bit, and though he can think on his feet he'd much rather prefer to sit down and digest whatever is on his mind with ample time.
Dante likes to think about the state of the world and humanity a fair bit, often wondering what he can do to help shape a better future. However this desire conflicts with his naturally reserved nature, a split that is most often seen in his dilemma towards actually using his powers. Dante can see the consequences his powers could have on the people and things around him long before he uses them, so he is still adapting to having to actually use his abilities. However he hates doing nothing in the face of any sort of danger to his views or ideals, and will confront this danger one way or another. He may first try to negotiate, but will use force if he sees no other option or needs to defend himself/someone else.
Using his powers excites Dante, as he is still not used to openly and freely utilizing them, and he has a strong insight on how to make the best use of them and how to improve them. However he does not want to lose himself to a superhero identity or risk his friends and family becoming targets due to his actions. As such he prefers to operate from “behind the curtains” so to speak, and dons the name “Force”.
Origin Story: Dante was born a Canadian citizen to two ordinary parents, making his mutation the first recorded in his immediate family. His powers had always existed inside of him, and he was even making use of them as an infant. However as he grew up his parents were eager to drill “restraint” into his head. Power like that could leave him isolated or targeted, and it could also cause problems for others. Dante was able to see this point of view even as a child, so he only ever used his abilities in secret.
As a result Dante never told anyone, not even his closest friends, about his abilities. His school years were fairly normal from the beginning all the way up through his time in university. There were many instances where Dante desperately wanted to use his power, whether it was to help others or even something silly like to impress a girl he crushed on, he never wound up doing so. Dante did, however, plan for a future in which he had to use his gifts. Given the relatively short range of his telekinesis he still saw his powers as equal parts physical and mental, and so he studied several fighting styles from his pre-teen years to the present day, so he would not be completely inadequate when the time was right.
Halfway through university in the United States, Dante is happy with his current goal of becoming a psychologist...mostly. While his career path is important to him Dante has become more and more aware of the state the world is in. He finds it difficult to focus on his own personal future when he knows there is another way he can help others. When he was younger, under the watchful eye of his parents, he would have been more hesitant. But now that he was older up he truly believed himself ready to make his powers known.
So Dante has begun to prepare for a possible “debut” so to speak. He doesn't yet know what situation will force his hand, but he knows he can no longer idly sit by and wait. He has an identity in mind, and what he wants to stand for. It's just a matter of when and where.
