Since before time came to be there were a number of beings tasked with the upkeep of existence. The one with the harshest role was, is, and will be Contrition, Ruin of all things. Like a leviathan of nothing he moves across the physical realm of lesser beings, not a force of good or evil, merely a force of inevitability. For the future to exist, the present must cease. So it is with the passing of each universe, and for the next to be the now must be forced to end. In order for this passing to the next cycle to occur, it is necessary that a number of beings of the present are exterminated. Though able to take a physical form, Contrition prefers to bargain with the people of the world which holds the being that must be snuffed out. At the dawn of a new universe, Contrition moves, starting with a planet of single celled organisms, and placing a period on the universe by taking the life of one individual on a planet of higher beings. In the current cycle of time, Contrition is nearing the extermination of a man in one quadrant of the galaxy, and once that is through he will resume his infinite movement towards a blue planet called Earth.
"Traeh'Dawk!" The Astuhl-Shei'dam (The Dragon of the Stars) of Trotvar caught the attention of his Captain of the Guard Dawk son of Traeh. The massive Trotvian turned, and saw a look of terror in young charges eyes. "What is it Gal'Shaen?" The young Trotvian spoke with a trembling voice, "The voice speaks to me, it tells me that they are at our door. That it is hopeless, and I should take my own life to avoid forcing my subject's dishonor."
Traeh'Dawk felt a bit of fear grip his stomach. Shaen son of Gal had united the warring nations of Trotvar when he was barely forty rotations around the Rofk (Sun). The Trotvian youth had onced walked amidst an army of thousands who had come to take his head from his shoulders. The young man had lived every day of his life since birth with the threat of being killed by an army or by a dagger in the night, and through it all the Trotvian managed to keep his composure, to never show even an ounce of fear. Until about seven months ago. Out of the blue, Gal'Shaen had developed extremely powerful telekinetic abilities. At first it had seemed like a blessing, but quickly it was clear that it wasn't. The Astuhl-Shei'dam began to confide in those closest to him that there was a powerful voice in his mind, telling him that he must die for the natural cycle of existence. Before long, others began to hear a voice, telling them to take the young Trotvian's life in exchange for safety or prosperity, "In the next chain of being." Eventually Traeh'Dawk heard the voice as well.
He heard it now. "Dawk son of Traeh. Strike down the being you call Gal'Shaen." I will not. He is the Astuhl-Shei'dam. I am honored to serve him. "If you are the one who strikes him down, I shall ensure you are this 'Astuhl-Shei'dam.' Strike him down son of Traeh, it is a necessity in the order of all things." Traeh'Dawk finally answered the young Trotvian, "I am here Gal'Shaen, none will harm you." However, at this word, the doors of the citadel came crashing down, and a combination of soldiers, artisans, farmers, priests, and members of every other walk of life on Trotvar swept into the room and clashed with Traeh'Dawk and his guards.
They were outnumbered, there was no end in sight to those coming to kill Gal'Shaen, and Traeh'Dawk only had ten other guards. His men slowly fell around him, but with his wicked axe of Corbrinate (Steel) he held back the horde of insurgents. However, it was not long before he heard a scream from Gal'Shaen. He allowed himself to turn, and saw that the young Trotvian had received a knife to the throat from one of his advisers. All those who'd come for Gal'Shaen stopped moving, but Traeh'Dawk did not. As the voice faded from his mind, he let out a massive roar and chopped through the sea of Trotvian's, rage filling his eyes.
Like a leviathan of nothing, Contrition marched. Earth. Madina Karimov. There existed beings likely stronger than this 'guard captain.' He would need to find beings higher than mortal to defeat them. He was coming.
