Name: The Sun God Ra
Secret Identity: N/A
Age: Indeterminate, current form has been in existence for five years
Affiliation: Heroes
Base of Operations: Cairocorp International Headquarters, Cairo, Egypt
Appearance: From the shoulders down, Ra has the appearance of a well-muscled black man somewhere in his early to mid thirties. However, his head is anything but normal. Instead of the handsome, sculpted face that once adorned his broad shoulders, Ra has the head of a bird, more specifically a black hawk. This head functions as that of a bird, except for the fact that it can speak, and is fluent in several languages. Most often, Ra wears finely tailored suits that clash with his avian head, but help him look the part as CEO of Cairocorp International. However, as the God of the Sun, Ra takes it upon himself to battle evildoers and when he does so, he dons traditional egyptian garb.
Powers: As the egyptian god of the sun, Ra possess several powers. He can materialize and manipulate a pair of spectral wings, with which he uses to fly. Additionally, he can control and manipulate fire, often projecting beams of pure heat from his hands. This also grants him immunity to fire, but a weakness to cold and ice. As a god, Ra has incredible endurance and strength and is immune to aging.
Personality: Ra believes himself to be the Egyptian God of the Sun and, as such, acts pompous and in charge. Those who treat him with respect and reverence, he treats well and those who do not, beware. He is boisterous and loud, uttering every word with an air of authority. Generally, Ra reveres all life and strikes down wherever he finds it.
Origin Story: Long ago, in the lands of Ancient Egypt, the land was ruled by the God Pharaoh Ra and Egypt was prosperous. The people loved their Pharaoh, but the other gods grew jealous. A coalition of Ra’s greatest enemies gathered and plotted to overthrow the benevolent Pharaoh. They waited in the shadows until the solar eclipse, when Ra’s powers would be the weakest. Led by Isis, the goddess of magic, and her son Osiris, Ra’s enemies stormed the capital of the empire and sacked the city. Ever the hero, Ra refused to leave the city and met Isis and her horde head-on. The fight was long and valiant, but in his weakened state, Ra could not stand forever. Osiris struck the pharaoh down with his mighty whip and sent him off to the underworld. Ra would languish there for centuries, fighting armies of the dead in an attempt to return to the mortal plane and reclaim his throne.
Flash forward to present day Cairo. The country of Egypt is flourishing, thanks in part to the mega corporation Cairocorp International and it’s philanthropic CEO Mustafa Abadi. Through their many branches and sub-companies Cairocorp has made Egypt a thriving land of industry, commerce, and culture. Just shy of his fortieth birthday, Mustafa was overcome with a heavenly light and a booming voice informed him that, thanks to his role in bringing Egypt into the forefront of the world, he had been chosen to become the avatar of The Sun God Ra, who had finally returned from the underworld. Mustafa would give his body unto Ra and his soul would be carried off into the Egyptian afterlife to enjoy Paradise. The light faded and where the dashing CEO once stood, was the ancient God of the Sun. Since that fateful day, Ra has assumed Mustafa’s role as CEO, as well as protector of Egypt. However, in the shadows of the world, dark forces are gathering to once again put out the sun.
