Personality:
There exist two beings within the man, Isaac Fawkes and Reynard the Fox. Isaac is aloof and calculating. He is ambitious, constantly looking for ways to expand his wealth and power with no regard to how it affects others. He is capable of showing some degree of affection for others, but more often than not the men or women Isaac interacts with are mere pawns to accomplish a goal.
Reynard is less interested in anything besides hedonistic pleasure or getting the better of someone else. While on the mortal plane, the Scarlet Fox wishes to get the best out of it, from what he consumes to what his body feels. For this he has an interest in every vice, and it takes up a large portion of his time while Reynard is in control. His greatest enjoyment from interacting with others however comes from the feeling of tricking someone else. To manipulate another person, or shatter their expectation is something of almost perverse pleasure to the Fox. Unlike Isaac, he is quite the talker, often using ffity words when three would do.
Origin Story: Isaac Fawkes was born in a particularly cold winter in 1675 to wealthy farmers in the British countryside. A bookish child, he refused to go outside for weeks at a time, staying in and reading to his hearts content. The entire year when he was eight, he stayed in one wing of his parents house. On his ninth birthday, his parents held his party out doors with every manor of entertainment to coax him out.
The straw that finally broke the camels back and got the boy outside was the magician. Isaac sat in awe for over an hour, watching the man repeat his act twice, and after the third time, Isaac was able to repeat two of the five tricks in the man's repertoire. From that moment, Isaac decided that he would be a magician, and that if he were to be anything, he would be the best at it. By the age of twenty, Isaac was an accomplished Magician, able to perform at high society functions and make a more than comfortable living for himself, and after a few more years his wife and son.
He was twenty-five when it happened, magic was changing, and slight of hand was becoming more of a parlor trick than a technique to entertain the high class masses. Isaac was losing work, and he needed something that could give him an edge over every other performer. He decided to try and add more occult elements to his act, and one night, at a performance he set up a pentagram to "ask the spirits" for information about the gathered nobles. The incantation he read was from an ancient Aramaic text of Canaanite Cabalism. The young magician had no way of knowing that the translation was incorrect. As the last syllables of the spell left his lips, a light shone through the Pentagram, and suddenly their erupted a pit of flame where it had been. Crawling its way out of the hole came a massive monster like a Minotaur, that began to slaughter all in attendance at the party.
Everyone save Isaac. The hellfire poured from the hole and took the house up in flame, but the beast saved Isaac, and dragged the magician down to hell, chaining him up to a burning rock with full view of a throne of tiny bodies. He introduced himself as the demon prince Moloch, and began years and years of torment for the young magician. Eventually, it became clear that he had broken the young man, not only physically, but psychologically. One eye, the left eye, watched the demonic plane, while the other watched some shadow of his life, as some soulless husk began to live his life for him, merely going through the motions. Isaac was forced to watch as a false version of him raised his son and loved his wife, and it broke him. His scattered mind searched for anything, anything to latch to that could give the broken part of him some unity. He found it, an old folktale, Reynard, the Scarlet Fox. He was a trickster, and slowly that personality manifested in Isaac's second half.
After all that time with the human, Moloch grew tired of his pet who had foolishly entered into a contract with the demon, and traded him to another prince, Allocer, for a favor. The same cycle perpetuated for two more princes, Malphas and Gamigin. When Gamigin grew tired of him, and was looking for another prince to take the reins of torture for him, inn return for some later favor of course. When finally he found a new hand, Isaac set a plan into motion that freed him from the plane of demons in which he had found himself. Each series of torture had altered his body just so that he was able eventually to use all the horrid actions against him to escape.
He cast an illusion before he was bound, and was able to make it out of the prince's domain. To fight off the hellspawn that came for him as he made his way towards the gates to the mortal realm, and once there immunity to fire to walk through the very gates. After over two centuries, he found himself, free.
The world had passed him by, and it filled him with a seething rage. He used his magic to create a life for himself, taking residence in a cottage by the Mediterranean sea. He amassed wealth through deceit and by playing the mind's of any he came across, and used that wealth to track down any text relating to magic in any form. Over time, he gathered a group of servants who were of fantastical stock, and brought them under his thrall. For an incredible length of time, Isaac Fawkes managed to keep the part of his mind that longed to create chaos on a larger scale inside himself, and for a very long time, he succeeded. Until now.
